Sakura
In Japan, they say there are more than 600 kinds of sakura
but for me
there are only two
this
Somei Yoshino
and the other... is all those left...
because if you come to Japan
it's likely that most of the time you would see this kind of sakura
this is somei yoshino, white, light pink and 5 petals
this is how the tree looks like
all of these are somei

somei
and dogs
and
not somei
this is also not somei
this is not somei too, not even sakura
Winter in Japan are harsh, sakura trees don't have any flower or leaf
for me, it was just like a dead wood
And you know spring are coming when you see this
flower's buds
and sakuras are blooming
and a sunny day
Sakuras in Osaka or Tokyo annually bloom on late March early April
and it doesn't last long
so Japanese will spend as much time as possible for activities with sakura
such as strolling, drawing, photography, party...
In my nearby park, almost everyday, there are full of old people with their grand kids coming
and at weekend, salaryman will have time for that
Sakura is symbol of Japan, so
almost if not everyone loves it
they even broadcast on TV about sakura's status everyday this time
There are tons of reasons for Japanese to love sakura
It comes with spring, after a crucial winter
the day sakura's blooming is also the day that the weather change is most clear
and who doesn't love sakura
a beautiful, lovely song
second, sakura blooms in a very short time, just 15 to 17 days, even shorter
therefore
Japanese should appreciate it when they can, not only Japanese
as people say, that is
ephemeral... easy come, easy go
third, in Japan, students graduate and start a new semester in March and early April
so this was the time for goodbye, or new start.. memories of student time
and of course, because it's beautiful
noone would choose ugly flower for their symbol lol
